Countdown to the Operation 5

Yes, gentle reader, it is 03:09 in the morning and I am unable to sleep. Not for the usual reason of my sleep pattern going to pot, but because I am back in hospital and the patient next to me is exhibiting, shall we say, exotic behaviour.

I won’t go into too much detail at this point, but suffice it to say there is a lot of shouting and swearing.

I was admitted again on Friday lunchtime with the usual cellulitis, and after spending a quiet night on the Medical Assessment Unit, a bed on this ward was found rather quickly and I was moved. I can probably imagine why.

During the day, my neighbour’s behaviour was mildly odd. If I watched the TV he made comments about anything I had on and wanted to watch things.

All this behaviour seems to attract visits of occasional sympathy and kindness from the nursing staff.

Yesterday, I discussed the options with my GP for not coming into this hospital; I wish I had been more forceful. I am normally the most calm and placid of patients but I am finding things harder and harder every time I come in.
