Welcome to my personal website and that of QVQL, our amazing quiz competition.
Here, you’ll find many things about me, my life, and my interests. Click on the down arrow at the top right to go further.
I am a fair bit older than the last serious attempt to update things, but it’s taking shape now. I’m not the most tech-savvy.
Over the past few months, I have suffered several health issues and am currently awaiting some serious surgery (due towards the end of June 2024). Life is now on hold until after the surgery. Due to eyesight and mobility issues, I’m no longer driving and rely on a powerchair now and I am getting used to travelling around with it.
I’m still ploughing on with my Open University Course after returning to Education after a 35-year gap. I finished and passed my German course and am now doing Creative Writing with an Arts module as well. Hopefully, I’ll finally have a degree in about two years. I enjoy terrific support from the University and have continued to have inspiring tutors. I may share some of my writings as we go along.
During the pandemic, I set up some online quiz leagues to replace the lack of face-to-face events. The team quiz league has stopped, but the Wednesday night individual league (QVQL) is still strong. I am so grateful to those people who write, read, and help make it an amazingly popular night. I also run a monthly heat of the UK Grand Prix Circuit on the first Saturday of each month.
Feel free to leave me comments, although they will initially have to be approved to deter spammers. I promise to publish anything that isn’t spam or illegal (or liable to attract superinjunctions!).
Please let me know if any links don’t work. The QVQL part of the site is now being set up, so we’ll have it working in time for the next season that starts on 17 July.
